  • Abelard, Galonski Named to the 1st Team All East Region

    St. Thomas Aquinas track and field runners Mike Abelard and Michael Galonski were named to the 1st Team All East Region. Abelard ran the 200 meters in a time of 21.73 which ranked him 3rd in the East Region and 72nd in the Country in Division II. Galonski was ranked 5th in East Region in a time of 10:03.12 for the steeplechase.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's track and field team were recently ranked 9th in the East Region. Mike Abelard is ranked 6th in the region in the 100 meters and 2nd in the region in the 200. George Erazo is currently ranked 9th in the region in the 400.
  • Spartans Finish Season Strong

    The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's track team competed at the prestigious Penn Relay's in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this past weekend. The men's 4 by 400 team of George Erazo, Mike Abelard, Frankie Colon and Vinny Modafferi ran their best time of the year of 3:20.61 finishing 49th overall in the competition.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men and women track & field team hit the road again, traveling down to New Brunswick, New Jersey this past Saturday, April 9th to compete at the Rutgers Invitational where they went up against Columbia, Fordham, Princeton, and other teams.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's track & field team is currently ranked 6th in the East Region. Mike Abelard is ranked 2nd in the 100 in the region with a time of 10.94 and first in the 200 with a time of 21.73. Sophomore, Rich Ricca is currently ranked 6th in the 100 and 15th in the 200.
  • Spartans Compete at Penn Invitational

    The St. Thomas Aquinas track & field team competed at the Penn Invitational this weekend. Sophomore Mike Abelard set yet another school record in the 200-meter dash where he clocked a blistering time of 21.73 seconds, which placed him 2nd overall out of 35 competitors.
  • Four Spartans Named to the Track & Field All Region Team

    St. Thomas Aquinas track & field runners, Mike Abelard, Frankie Colon, George Erazo and Vinny Modafferi were named to the All Region Team. This is the first time the USTFCCCA has named All-Region honorees for indoor track & field in Division II. The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region’s top three have earned the All-Region distinction for the 2011 indoor season. A total of 1,039 athletes receive 1,482 all-region nods in the inaugural class.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's track & field team is currently ranked 9th in the East Region and 87th in the Country. Mike Abelard ranks 5th in East in the 60m and 200m as well as finishing 31st in the Country in the 200m. The Spartan 4 x 400m relay of Abelard, George Erazo, Frankie Colon, and Vinny Modafferi, are currently ranked 3rd with a time of 3:21.07.
  • Spartan Track & Field Teams Remain Ranked in East Region

    The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Track & Field team has held their spot at 9th in the East Region while the women are currently ranked 14th. The men's squad has moved up six places in the national ranking to 75th.
  • Spartan Runners Take 5th at CTC Indoor Championship

    The STAC Men's and Women's Teams both competed at the CTC Championship at Wesleyan College. Mike Abelard won the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.65 and finished in 2nd in the 55 meter dash in the time of 6.58. Freshman, George Erazo won the 400 meter dash in a time of 50.54 and came in 5th overall in the 200 in a time of 23.37.
  • Spartan Track Teams Ranked in the East Region

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's and women's track team are both ranked in the East Region with the men 8th and the women 13th. The Spartan men are also ranked 81st in the country for Diision II.
  • Spartans Compete at New Balance Invitational

    The St. Thomas Aquinas track & field team competed at the New Balance Invitational this weekend held at the Armory in NYC. Mike Abelard ran his second fastest time of the season with a 22.04 in the finals of the Collegiate Division in the 200m. Keeley Bateman competed in the mile where she ran 5:30.24 a new personal best and new school record for the women.
  • Spartans Compete at Terrier Classic

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's and women's track & field team competed at the Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University this Friday and Saturday. Mike Abelard ran a NCAA DII National qualifying time of 21.85 in the 200m dash, unofficially ranking him 15th in the country. Keeley Bateman and Sarah Callagy ran lifetime best in their events.
  • St. Thomas Track & Field Teams Regionally Ranked

    The St. Thomas Aquinas men's track & field team is currently ranked 8th in the Northeast Region. The Lady Spartans received 13th place in this weeks regional ranking. Sophomore Mike Abelard and Freshman George Erazo are each ranked 4th in their respective events. Abelard in the 60m dash and Erazo in the 400m.
  • Spartans Have Success at Great Dane Classic

    Freshman George Erazo ran a personal best in his indoor career running a 49.02 which put him in 3rd place for the meet and also giving him the 12th ranked time in the country for Division II. For the Lady Spartans, freshman Keeley Bateman ran a time of 3:09.91 which placed her 11th overall in a stacked field of runners.
  • Spartans Run Personal Best at Gotham Cup in NYC

    Two Freshman Mike Kraus and Frankie Colon both ran personal best's in the 800 at the Gotham Cup held at the Armory in NYC on Friday. Mike Kraus ran 2:01.46 which is his best time indoor/ Frankie Colon ran 2:03.61 which is his best 800 time for the indoor season. Freshman George Erazo finished 15th overall in the 400.
  • Spartan Runners Have Record Breaking Weekend

    St. Thomas Aquinas track and field team participated in the Metro Coaches Invitational at the Armory in NYC on Friday. Vinny Modafferri broke the school record in the 500 in a time of 1:06.82. Freshman Keeley Bateman broke the 800 meter school record where she ran a time of 2:24.20.
  • Spartans Find Success at Different Venues

    The St. Thomas Aquinas track & field team competed a different venue this weekend; one at Harvard and one at Fordham. At Harvard, sophomore Mike Abelard finished 2nd in both the 60 meter dash (6.94) and 200 (22.17). George Erazo finished in 12th in the 400 with a time of 50.97.
  • Spartan Track Team Opened Season at CTC Carnival

    The St. Thomas Aquinas track team kicked off the 2010-2011 Winter Season at the CTC Carnival in New Haven, CT. The Spartan relay team of Mike Abelard, George Erazo, Frankie Colon and Rich Ricca finished in 2nd place in the 4x200 to highlight their opener. Ricca also picked up a second place finish in the 55m dash.
  • Spartan Runners Lend a Hand

    The STAC Cross Country and Track & Field programs joined forces at the 22nd Annual South Nyack 10-Miler Race hosted by the Rockland Roadrunners. The runners volunteered as timers and handed out water to participants along the race course. All proceeds from the event were donated to local organizations including the South Nyack and Piermont Volunteer Fire Departments and Junior Achievements.
