St. Thomas Aquinas track and field team participated in the Metro Coaches Invitational at the Armory in NYC on Friday.  Vinny Modafferri broke the school record in the 500 in a time of 1:06.82.  Freshman Keeley Bateman  broke the 800 meter school record where she ran  a time of 2:24.20.  Freshman George Erazo ran 49.63 which was 3rd overall and top DII collegiate time in the 400 meter dash. 

Along with the successful weekend the Spartans have received some National recognition as well.  As of January 7th, 2011 Mike Abelard is ranked 10th in the Country in the 200 Meters in a time of 22.17 as well as 19th in the Country in the 60 meter Dash in a time of 6.94..  George Erazo is 20th in the Country in the 400 in a time of 49.62.  Mike Galonski has the 23rd fastest time in the country in the mile in a time of 4:33.91

On the Women's side as of January 7th 2011 Keeley Bateman has the 15th fastest time in the country in the 800 in a time of 2:24.20 as well as the 13th fastest time in the mile in the time of 5:34.02.  Sarah Callagy is ranked 16th in the Country in the mile with a time of 5:37.45.
