Pleasantville, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team opened its 2004 season on the road Friday evening, visiting the Ann and Alfred Goldstein Health, Fitness & Recreation Center in Westchester County for a non-conference bout with Pace University. Despite a valiant effort by the Spartans, the host Setters prevailed with a 3-0 victory.
STAC falls to 0-1 on the year, while Pace moves to 1-0.

How it Happened
- Nine new Spartans saw their first action in maroon and gold.
- As a team, Pace recorded 38 kills compared to STAC's 26. The Setters also had 11 blocks and 36 assists, while the Spartans tallied 1 block and 23 assists.
- Pace outhit STAC by a .300 to .044 margin for the match.
- Freshman Evie Paalman (Laren Gelderland, Netherlands) paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 13 kills on opening day. She also registered, six digs.
- Junior Anna Gazzerro (Padova, Italy) tallied 12 serve assists (4.0 assists/set). Gazzerro also accumulated three service aces and two digs for the maroon and gold.
- Freshman Addison Miller (Allentown, Pa.) recorded seven digs in her inaugural collegiate match.
- Senior Lea Venghaus (Muenster, Germany) picked up eight assists, a service ace and two digs.
- Junior Greta Santini (Reggio Emilia, Italy) tallied five kills and four digs on the evening.
- Freshman Isis Barrett (Nyack, N.Y.) put together a four kill, one block assist effort in her collegiate debut.
