Women's Lacrosse Downed By Bridgeport, 19-3

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 19-3 defeat at the hands of the University of Bridgeport, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Spartan Field

STAC falls to 3-5 on the season, while Bridgeport moves to 3-4 on the year.

Hailey Galison, Charlotte Luquer and Katelyn Cerrato led the Spartans' offense with a goal apiece on the afternoon. Goalie Ailsa Ogilvie (L, 0-2) got the start between the pipes for the maroon and gold and stopped 6 of 25 shots faced.

Meanwhile, Bridgeport was led by Max McDermott, who tallied four goals and three assists, while Tara Dimaio added four goals and a helper and Cassidy Dalton scored three goals. Teammates Samantha Targonski (2 goals, 1 assist), Ava Robalino (2 goals), Elizabeth Pitts (1 goal, 7 assists), Tereza Kreuzova (1 goal, 1 assist), Molly Blackadar (1 goal) and Emily Stuart (1 goal) added to the totals both on the scoreboard and the scoresheet. Goalies Jacklyn Mellia (W, 3-4), 7 Saves, and Amber Militrano, 0 saves, both in the net for the Purple Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Bridgeport tallied all nine goals in the first half and the first goal of the third quarter to hold a commanding 10-0 advantage over the Spartans. Hailey Galison finally got STAC on the board with her ECC-leading 33rd of the season to make it 10-1. The visiting Purple Knights struck back with six more goals to increase their lead to 16-1. Charlotte Luquer then tallied her first of the season to cut the deficit to 16-2. However, Bridgeport closed out the scoring with three of the next four goals to make it a 19-3 decision. Katelyn Cerrato chipped in her 26th of the campaign for the maroon and gold in the final quarter.
