  • Lady Spartans Honor Seniors
    April 28, 2014
    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Molloy College, 8-0 and 9-1 on Sunday afternoon. The game was STAC's final game of the season and the senior day game for Toni Ann Groth and Jamie McCormick. Sunday's game also represented the final game for head coach Barbara Vano who will retire from coaching after a dedicated 37 years.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's softball team lost at Mercy, 4-1 and 9-0. In game one, Samantha McDonald went 2-for-3 with a run. Kim Nowak went 1-for--3 with an RBI. The Lady Spartans had 7 hits and left 6 stranded. In game two, STAC stranded 8 as the Maverick's defense shut them out. McDonald, Nowak and Lauren Navarro went 2-for-3.
  • Lions Edge Lady Spartans, 4-3 before 13-0 Shutout

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's softball team lost at Molloy College, 4-3 in game one before the Lions shut them out, 13-0 in game two. In game one, Jamie McCormick went 3-for-4 while Julie Sosnicki went 2-for-4 with an RBI. In game two the Molloy defense held the Lady Spartans to just two hits.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to NYIT, 7-1 and 10-0 on Tuesday afternoon. Kim Nowak went 2-for-3 with an RBI while Nikolette Nevola was 1-for-3 with a run in game one. Jamie McCormick went 3-for-7 for the day and Shelby Coyle was 3-for-5.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to LIU Post today, 2-0 and 8-0. Shelby Coyle went 2-for-3 in game one as the Lady Spartans had 5 hits.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Dowling College, 10-0 and 12-4. Lauren Navarro, Katie Meyers, Shelby Coyle and Brittany Mangan all had RBI's for STAC in game two.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Mercy College, 12-3 and 9-1. Julie Sosnicki had two hits and two runs for the day. Samantha McDonald and Nikoleete Nevola each had an RBI for the Lady Spartans. Katie Meyers went 2-for-3 in game two.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Queens College, 4-0 and 9-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Knights pitching dominated the day as Roberge pitched a no hitter in game two shutting out STAC, 9-0 with 10 strike outs. STAC's Samantha McDonald and Julie Sosnicki each had a hit against the tough Queens squad in game one.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Bridgeport, 6-3 and 9-1 on Thursday afternoon. Toni Ann Groth hit a 2 RBI double to score Samantha McDonald and Julie Sosnicki in game one. Jamie McCormick hit an RBI single in the 7th, scoring Kim Nowak but it was not enough to close the gap for the Lady Spartans.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to NYIT, 10-2 and 5-4. In game one, Jamie McCormick went 2-for-2 with and RBI scoring Katie Meyers. Julie Sosnicki had a hit a run and an RBI. Meyers added an RBI single in game two but STAC's rally fell short.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to LIU Post, 6-3, 14-4 on Thursday afternoon. Brittany Mangan went 2-for-2 in the first game with an RBI while Toni Ann Groth went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Samantha McDonald went 2-for-4 and scored a run in game one and 1-for-2 plus a run in game two.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Dowling College, 8-0 and 15-5. Julie Sosnicki went 2-for-4 for the day with a run. Kim Nowak had 2 RBI in game two while Katie Meyers and Brittany Mangan each recorded and RBI.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team split with Queens College on Thursday afternoon picking up a 4-3 win in game two. The Spartans used a 3-run 5th inning to overcome the Knights. Samantha McDonald went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run while picking up the win on the mound.
  • Purple Knights Hold Off Lady Spartans

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost both games to Bridgeport, 5-4 and 10-4. In game one, Bridgeport's early runs were enough to hold off STAC. Samantha McDonald went 4-for-8 with a run and Julie Sosnicki went 3-for-7 with a run. Sosnicki and Kim Nowak each had a loss on the mound.
  • Lady Spartans Fall To Falcons

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Felician College, 13-1 and 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon. Samantha McDonald went 4-for-7 on the day and Julie Sosnicki went 2-for-4 in game two including an RBI double in the 7th inning almost forging a comeback.
  • Lady Spartans Drop Two Games In FL

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to West Liberty, 10-1 and Wayne State, 7-1. Katie Meyers stole home to give STAC their run in game one and Meyers scored STAC other run of the day after a single in the 7th inning. Brittany Mangan had the RBI double to score Meyers.
  • Winona State and Tiffin Top STAC

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Winona State, 11-0 and Tiffin 9-2. In game two, STAC scored a run in the first and fifth inning but it was not enough to hold off Tiffin. Brittany Mangan had an RBI single to score Lauren Navarro. Samantha McDonald hit and RBI single in the 5th to score Katie Meyers.
  • Lady Spartans Fall in Final Games
    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost their final two games in Florida, 8-2 to Stonehill and 11-2 to AIC. Julie Sosnicki went 2-for-3 with 2 runs in the first game. In game two, Nicolette Nevola's single scored STAC's two runs.
