  • Lady Spartan Softball Team Work to Strike Out Cystic Fibrosis

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team has raised money to help with research and awareness of Cystic Fibrosis. The Lady Spartans presented a $300.00 check to Mrs. Alison Place during last weeks double header against C.W. Post. The Place family were victims to this terrible disease losing their son/brother, Jimmy.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to C.W. Post on Saturday dropping two games, 5-2 and 7-0. Megan Sweezey hit a 2 RBI homerun for the Lady Spartans in game one. STAC hosted a charity event to raise funds to support research for Cystic Fibrosis. The Lady Spartans raised $300.00 towards the cause.
  • Lady Spartans Fall to Lions, 8-1 and 13-5

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Dowling College, 8-1 and 13-5 on Thursday afternoon. Toni Ann Groth hit a solo homerun in the 6th to score the Lady Spartans lone run in game one. Groth's single in game two came up big scoring three runs. Megan Sweezy added a solo home run of her own for STAC.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas Softball team lost to Dowling, 4-0 and 13-4 on Tuesday afternoon. Shelby Coyle went 2-for-3 in the second game including a bases loaded double to score three runs for STAC. The Lady Spartans honored their four seniors in a pre-game ceremony.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to the NYIT Bears, 7-0 and 11-3. Michelle Sasso hit an RBI single to put STAC on the scoreboard in game two. Katie Meyers hit an RBI triple in the 7th inning to score the Lady Spartans 3rd run. Sharis Ruiz had 3 hits for the day.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Queens College, 3-0 and 7-3 on Thursday afternoon. Jamie McCormick went 1-3 in the second game with a lead off double in the 5th and scored the Lady Spartans first run of the day. Rachael Hannawalt added an RBI single in the game.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team continue their winning streak picking up an 8-4 victory on the road against the University of Bridgeport. STAC fell to the Purple Knights, 14-7 in game two. Michelle Sasso went 3-for-4 with an RBI in game one. Rachael Hannawalt had 3 hits for the day, 3 runs and 2 RBI.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team beat Chestnut Hill today, 10-6 and 1-0 winning their 4th game in a row. Sharis Ruiz went 4-for-8 with 1 run for the day. Heather Clausen went 3-for-8 with 3 runs and an RBI. Megan Sweezy and Katie Meyers each had 3 RBI for STAC.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team beat Mercy College, 4-3 and 4-2 on Saturday afternoon picking up their first ECC wins of the season. Megan Sweezy went 3-for-6 with 2 runs and an RBI while Katie Meyers went 2-for-6 with 2 runs and an RBI for STAC. Maura Power had a hit in each game for the Lady Spartans including the game winning RBI single in the 8th inning to give STAC the 4-3 win.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Mercy College, 2-1 in 12 innings before falling 12-2 in the second game. Victoria Tiso had an RBI single to scored Katie Meyers in game one. Megan Sweezy and Shelby Coyle each hit solo home runs in game two for the Lady Spartans.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to the University of Bridgeport, 7-1 and 5-1. Katie Meyers hit an RBI Sac Fly in the 7th inning to score STAC's only run. In game two, Lauren Navarro hit an RBI double in the 7th to score Michelle Sasso.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost at Molloy College, 9-0 and 10-0 on Friday afternoon. STAC's Toni Ann Groth and Lauren Navarro each had a hit for the Lady Spartans. Megan Butterworth and Kelley Jansen each picked up the shutout wins for the Lions.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team beat Nyack, 5-4 in the first game coming from behind to edge the visitors, off a game winning RBI double from Rachel Hannawalt.  STAC went on to win the second game, 5-1, highlighted by a 2 RBI double from Katie Meyers.

    The St. Thomas Aquinas women's softball team lost to St. Anselm in today's double header at home. The Lady Spartans could not hold off the Hawks in the first game falling 5-3 and then lost 11-2, in 5 innings in game two. Katie Meyers was 4-for-5 for the day, including a 3 run homerun in game one.
