Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Field Hockey team battled NE10 foes American International College on Wednesday, falling 1-0 at Spartan Field in the maroon and gold's 2025 home opener. The game remained scoreless until the 8th minute, when AIC was able to put a penalty corner insert into the cage for the game winner.
With the loss, STAC falls to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in NE10 play, while AIC improves to 2-5 and 1-1.
American International outshot St. Thomas Aquinas by a slim 16-14 margin, with the visitors also ahead 11-8 in shots on goal. Fenna Woll tallied the lone goal for the Yellow Jackets with the assist credited to teammate Grace Boisvert.
Katelyn Cerrato led the STAC offensive opportunities, tallying four shots, with two going on goal. AIC goalie Frederique den Hartog (W, 2-5) turned away all seven shots faced to pick up the shutout victory.
Ailsa Ogilvie (L, 0-4) got the start in the cage for the Spartans stopped 10 of 11 shots faced on the day.
