New Haven, Conn. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Field Hockey team closed out its season-long five-match road trip, falling 11-1 to Southern Connecticut State University on Monday afternoon at Jess Dow Field.
STAC falls to 1-4 on the season, while So. Connecticut State improves to 4-3 on the year.
Taylor Leckey recorded a four-goal afternoon for the hosts, while teammate Natalia Fiato tallied a pair of goals. Isabella Folster, Kate Salvador, Lindsey Onofrio, Isabella Taylor and Kaiya Mercier also added to the Owls totals on the scoreboard with a goal apiece. All three Southern Connecticut State goalkeepers saw action in the contest, with Rachel Miller (W, 3-3) getting the start and turning aside 1 of 2 shots faced. Lyndsay Troisi played two scoreless periods, stopping four shots on goal, while Lyla O' Connor played the fourth but did not face a shot.
Meanwhile, Clemence Papleux netted the Spartans lone goal off of a penalty corner opportunity taken by teammate Morgan VanDover. Ailsa Ogilvie (L, 1-3) got her fourth straight start in the cage for STAC and stopped 14 of 25 shots fired her way.
