Hillburn, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Sprint Football team opened its 2025 season with a thrilling 14-13 victory over Molloy University on Saturday afternoon at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in Rockland County.
STAC moves to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the CSFL North Division, while Molloy slips to 0-1 and 0-1.
A large and energetic crowd came together to celebrate the opening of a new Sprint Football season, with the Athletic Department also recognizing the dedication and unwavering support shown to our student-athletes by the college's employees with Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day ceremonies at halftime.
STAC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Eric Neal, Jr. led the Spartans' offense with four receptions totaling 45 yards and a score. His longest catch went for 17 yards.
- Tynez Harp and Aaron Cruz drove the maroon and gold ground game, with Harp running for 31 yards and Cruz rushing for 30 yards on six attempts with a touchdown. His largest run was for 13 yards.
- Starting quarterback Tynez Harp completed 7 of 8 passes, for 64 yards, while throwing for a touchdown.
- On the defensive side of the ball, Ethan Hence recorded 9 tackles (4 solo, 5 assist), while Brandon Jimenez made 8 stops (4 solo, 4 assist) and forced a fumble.
- Lions QB Paulie Drummond V was felled by both Ibrahim Conteh (1.5 sacs), Eric Neal, Jr (1 sac), and was among a cast of many who had Drummond on the run all afternoon.
- STAC forced four Molloy fumbles and broke up six passes in the contest.
- Kicker Andrew Stosko was successful on both of his extra point attempts.
