Hillburn, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Sprint Football team opened its 2024 season, falling to University of Pennsylvania, 24-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in Rockland County.
STAC slips to 0-1 on the year, while Penn moves to 1-0.
A raucous crowd came together to celebrate the opening of a new Sprint Football season, with the Athletic Department also recognizing the dedication and unwavering support shown to our student-athletes by the college's employees with Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day ceremonies at halftime.
STAC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Savion Williams led the way on the offensive side of the football with ten receptions for 75 yards, with his longest catch being a 16 yarder.
- Starting quarterback Ryan Kenny completed 23 of 37 passes, for 218 yards, while throwing an interception. He also had 11 rushing attempts in the contest.
- On defense, JoJo Miranda registered a game-high 13 tackles (9 solo, 4 assist), including 1.5 stops for a loss of three yards. Teammate Ethan Hence was right behind Miranda with 10 total tackles (5 solo, 5 assist) on the afternoon.
- Raul Ramirez recorded the Spartans first interception of the season, picking off Penn QB Michael Malone.
