The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team won their season opener, 12-6 against Wilmington University. Genevieve Stickney scored 3 goals for the Lady Spartans, while Kellie Kucinski and Alexis Serras each added 2. Freshmen Kaitlyn Lonergan recorded 8 saves in goal.
The Lady Spartans evened the scored up a 1-1 with a goal from Margaret Sharp off an assist from Samantha Lowney. Stickney's first goal tied the score again before the Lady Spartans received goals from Serras, Johanna Mitchell and another one from Stickney to take a 5-2 lead. Lowney scored the final goal of the half and the Lady Spartans held a 6-3 lead at the break.
Freshmen Sabrina Prestano and Victoria Gregson scored their first career goals in the second half for STAC. Jessica Stratton had two goals for the Wildcats.
The Lady Spartans will travel to Manhattanville on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. game.
