The St. Thomas Aquinas Softball team defeated the University of Bridgeport 7-6 in the first of a two game series. Megan Sweezy led the Lady Spartans with a homerun, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Maura Power picked up the win on the mound.
Colleen Pagnani gave the Lady Spartan a spark going 2-for-3 with 1 RBI. Katie Meyers added an RBI and scored a run after working the Bridgeport pitcher and drawing two walks. Samantha McDonald, Lauren Navarro, Samantha Wagenstein and Nikolette Nevola each scored a run for the Lady Spartans. In the second game, STAC fell to the Purple Knights 6-0. ToniAnn Groth was 1-2 at the plate with a double.
The Lady Spartans are back in action on Saturday as they play their first ever home game on the new Spartan Field. They take on Queens College in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
