The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Queens College, 1-0 and 11-2, in their new home field debut. Freshmen Samantha McDonald went 4-for-7 for the day and score a run in game two. Megan Sweezy also scored a run in game two and Alisa Cipolla had an RBI.
This afternoons double header was the first on the new Spartan Field, the new home field for the Lady Spartans. In game one, Maura Power took the loss on the mound as the Knights edged STAC with a run from Samantha Mattsson who went 2-for-3 in the game.
In game two, Sweezy had 4 strike outs in the loss and went 1-for-3 at bat. Kaitlyn Crowley had 2 home runs to power the Knights offense, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
STAC will return to action as they begin a seven game home stretch starting on Tuesday a Molloy College.
