Spartans Strong Defense Against Hawks Ends in 0-0 Tie

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team tied with the St. Anselm Hawks, 0-0 in double overtime in Sunday afternoons game.  Senior goal keeper Andrew Tartara recorded his first shutout of the season with seven saves.  The Spartans had 11 shots on goal to the Hawks seven. 

Brendan Flynn and Sean Connelly each had two shots on goal for the Spartans.  Both teams fought a tough defensive battle remaining scoreless for 110 minutes of action.  Eric Moriarty has 11 saves for St. Anselm's.  "The men showed a lot of heart today while playing in tough conditions," commented head coach Graham Brown.

The Spartans will play at Assumtion College on Wednesday.  Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
