Spartans Picked 4th in ECC Preseason Poll,

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team was selected 4th in the East Coast Conference Preseason Poll voted on by the conference coaches.  STAC returns 17 players from last season's roster including; junior Daniel Davren who led the Spartans with 9 goals and 8 assists and senior goal keeper, Andrew Tartara who led the ECC in saves with 75.

Davren was a first team all conference selection in 2010 as well as a Daktronics All Region player.  He helped guide the Spartans to their best season, finishing 12-5-1, as well as an ECC playoff spot.  Tartara was a second team all conference player in 2010.  He recorded 4 shutouts and gave up just 17 goals in the regular season.   

The Spartans return 9 starters including their top 5 goal scorers from last season and will look to make another post season appearance.  "We will face our toughest ever schedule this season, but this is a credit to how far we have come in our program," commented head coach Graham Brown who is in his 9th season with the Spartans.  "Our aim this year is to try our best to make the playoffs, however we know that any team in our conference can now make the top four."

STAC will begin their season tomorrow afternoon at Stonehill College in Massachusetts.  The Spartans will play five road games before the have their home opener on September 17th against Gannon.
