St. Thomas Aquinas junior, John Casey, shot a 68 in the first round of The McLaughlin hosted by St. John's University.  STAC finished the opening day with a team score of 284, just six stroke off the leader.  Freshman Thomas Linehan shot 70, even par, for the Spartans while Chris Fitzpatrick and Mike Gunderson each carded a 73.

Division I Villanova University and Temple University currently lead the tournament with team scores of 278.  Andrew Mason from Temple is leading all scorers with a 66.  Casey, two strokes behind is in 6th place for the tournament.
