Newburgh, N.Y. - On Sunday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program competed at the Mount St. Mary College Invite. The men's squad took home a first place finish, while the women's team placed second in races contested at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Newburgh, New York.
Ronaldo Rodriguez Perez was the top Spartan finisher on the morning with a time of 27:32.9, placing second in the men's 8K race. Following Rodriguez Perez in order of finish were: Pedro Mulero Martinez (27:33.2 - 3rd), William Whitton (28:16.1 - 5th), Colin Graham (29:00.8 - 6th), Kyle Koenig (29:29.9 - 8th), John Ciuffo (29:34.9 - 9th), Jude Petersen (31:04.2), Henry Mascia (31:26.9), Daniel Fitzgerald (34:00.3), Leonardo Rosas (34:38.2), Luke Skardinski (36:08.0), Ian Forsyth (37:16.2) and Ryan Turner (40:34.8).
Meanwhile, Gianna Mauri was the top STAC finisher on the day with a time of 22:11.6, taking third overall in the women's 5K event. Following Mauri in order of finish were: Sophonie Michel (22:42.5 - 4th), Kristen Kennedy (24:16.7 - 10th), Abigail Dauterman (24:44.0), Ciara Doyle (25:27.2) and Leilaah Gomez (34:40.1).
The Spartans next compete at the Bard College Fred Pavlich Invitational on Saturday, September 20 at Montgomery Place in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.
