STAC Cross Country Opens New Season At LIU Fall Festival

Brookville, N.Y. - On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cross Country program open its Fall 2025 campaign, taking to the race course in the Long Island University Fall Festival on their campus in Brookville. Both Spartan squads placed fifth overall in the event.

Gianna Mauri was the top STAC finisher on the day with a time of 22:26.2 taking 18th overall in the women's 5K event. Following Mauri in order of finish were: Sophonie Michel (24:31.9), Kristen Kennedy (25:56.7) and Leilaah Gomez (36:18.1).

Meanwhile, Ronaldo Rodriguez Perez was the top Spartan finisher on the afternoon with a time of 29:43.7, placing 23rd in the men's 8K race. Following Rodriguez Perez in order of finish were: William Whitton (29:54.6), Pedro Mulero Martinez (30:42.2), Colin Graham (31:16.6), John Ciuffo (32:38.5), Kyle Koenig (32:56.8), Jude Petersen (33:46.2), Henry Mascia (36:24.5), Daniel Fitzgerald (37:10.0), Leonardo Rosas (37:17.4), Jake Mancino (39:11.7), Ian Forsyth (39:25.9), Luke Skardinski (41:17.2) and Larsen Sullivan (44:51.7).

In the East Coast Conference preseason coaches poll released in late August, the STAC men were chosen to finish fourth with the women picked to finish fifth.

St. Thomas Aquinas College will next compete at the Mount Saint Mary College Invite on Sunday, September 14. The meet takes place at Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Newburgh, N.Y. and get underway at 11:00 a.m.
