Meaghan Ventarola and Robert Guidicipietro were named to the ECC All-Conference 1st Team, while Aida Torpey and Jonathan Gay earned 2nd team honors. First team accolades are awarded to the first 7 finisher of the race, while second team goes to thos finishing in 8th through 14th place.
Ventarola finished in 4th place overall in a time of 18:32. Venatrola is no stranger to this award as it is her third. She has also been an All-Region selection, a NCAA National Championship participant and our 6K record holder. Ventarola has led the team in all but one race this season.
Torpey, a freshman, has made her presence known early as she has been a top finisher in every race this year. Her time of 19:14 is a personal best, more than 30 second faster that the personal record set just a few weeks ago.
Guidicipietro has helped to set a new pace in his collegiate debut for the Sartans this season. He has been the first to cross the line in four of the six races of 2016. His contributions have been key in the 2nd place team finish. Guidicipietro was named ECC Rookie of the Week once this season and ECC Runner of the Week once.
Gay, also a freshman, has been a great asset to the program as well. He finished in 9th place at the Championship which was instrumental in the teams overall finish. Gay was the top finisher for the Spartans in two races and was named ECC Rookie of the Week twice in 2016.
