Women's Volleyball Suffers 3-1 Loss to Crosstown Rivals Dominican

Sparkill, N.Y. - Squaring off for the first time in the Division II Era, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-1 decision to crosstown rivals Dominican University on Wednesday evening at the Spartan Athletic Complex.

STAC drops to 1-5 on the year, while Dominican improves to 3-4.

How it Happened

  • As a team, St. Thomas Aquinas recorded 53 kills compared to Dominican's 51. The Spartans also had 6 blocks and 50 assists, while the Chargers tallied 3 blocks and 45 assists.
  • Dominican outhit STAC by a .219 to .169 margin for the match.
  • Adriana Zarceno paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 21 kills. She also registered 13 digs.
  • Anna Gazzerro tallied a match-high 39 serve assists (9.75 assists/set). Gazzerro also accumulated a kill, two service aces and eight digs for the maroon and gold.
  • Chloe Weiting picked up 14 kills, a serve assist, two service aces and 14 digs.
  • Laura Rojas Gomez racked up 11 kills and seven digs.
  • Dahiana Garcia Atuesta contributed a serve assist and 14 kills.
  • Boglarka Kiss put together a three serve assist and match-high 15 dig effort against the Chargers.
