West Chester, Pa. - St. Thomas Aquinas College played a spirited non-conference match against West Chester University, but was handed a 4-3 road loss at the WCU Tennis Courts in the Keystone State.
STAC slips to 1-3 on the season, while West Chester remains unbeaten at 3-0.
The Spartans won the doubles point on the strength of victories from Sun Zhuoxuan and Kateryna Kryuchkova (6-3) at No. 1 doubles and Shreethika Vangala and Mar Caneves Bufi (7-6 (7-5)) at No. 2 doubles, but then dropped four of six singles bouts with Kryuchkova (6-3, 7-5 - No. 1) and Caneves Bufi (6-0, 6-3 - No. 2) as the only winners.
