St. Thomas Aquinas athletes Kateryna Kryuchkova and Mar Caneves Bufi have been named ECC Women's Tennis All-Conference selections, as voted on by the league's four head coaches and announced on Thursday afternoon, ahead of this weekend's 2026 ECC Women's Tennis Championship.
Kryuchkova (Kyiv, Ukraine) picked up First Team accolades, while Caneves Bufi (Mallora, Spain) took home Second Team kudos.
Kryuchkova went 7-8 in doubles (primarily at No. 1) and 11-4 in singles (primarily at No. 1) for a 18-12 overall mark, while advancing to the round of sixteen at the ITA East Region doubles tournament and the round of sixty four of the singles bracket last fall. The junior from Ukraine is ranked No. 8 in doubles action and No. 13 in singles play for the East Region by the ITA. She was also ranked as high as No. 32 Nationally in doubles play by the ITA back in March. Additionally, Kryuchkova took home ECC Player of the Week honors back on March 17 and 24.
Caneves Bufi went 9-7 in doubles (primarily at No. 2) and 8-7 in singles (primarily at No. 2) for a 17-14 overall mark, while also advancing to the round of thirty two of both the ITA East Region doubles and singles tournaments last fall.
The ECC Women’s Tennis Championship begins Friday at 9 a.m., with No. 1 Queens facing No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas and No. 2 D’Youville taking on No. 3 District of Columbia. The championship match is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m. All matches will be held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
