Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team posted its second consecutive shutout victory, sweeping D'Youville University 7-0 in ECC action on Friday afternoon at the Riley Family Tennis Courts.
STAC improves to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the ECC on the year, while D'Youville Slips to 1-5 and 0-2.
STAC opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play. The Spartans won all three competitions, as Sun Zhuoxuan and Ombeline Robilliart played at No. 3 and took care of business vs. Yelizaveta Prokopenko & Emiliia Soloviova, 6-0. Kateryna Kryuchkova and Anaya Brons defeated Maria Campisi & Paola Ermina, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, with the first double matchup also going to the maroon and gold, as Courtney Fyvie & Elita Silins bested Mina Randjelovic & Yuliia Kashtelian, 6-1.
St. Thomas Aquinas led 1-0 after winning the doubles point and did not let off the gas in singles competition, taking all six singles competitions. Elita Silins defeated Yuliia Kashtelian, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Ombeline Robilliart beat Paola Ermina, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4. Elise Semmartin took care of business at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Maria Campisi to clinch the match in favor of the Spartans. Kateryna Kryuchkova was victorious over Yelizaveta Prokopenko, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, Mar Caneves Bufi downed Emiliia Soloviova, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 and No. 1 Anaya Brons completed the sweep with a 7-6 (7), 6-1 win against Mina Randjelovic.
