St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis players Ebba Rosberg, Amaia Balaguer Brau, Eliza Mulder, Paula Palero, Elita Silins and Samanta Villegas Robles were named ECC All-Conference selections on Thursday, as the league revealed their annual awards, voted on by the conference's coaches. In addition, Rosberg was named the ECC Women's Tennis Player of the Year, while Head Coach Dan Rockhill was selected as the Coach of the Year, in a vote by his peers.
Rosberg (Sr./Stockholm, Sweden) was unbeatable in singles play during dual matches this fall. She went 8-0 overall which included a 5-0 record in ECC play. All eight dual match wins came at the No. 1 position. Rosberg also excelled in doubles action with partner Samanta Villegas Robles, finishing with a 6-1 record at the No. 1 position. Including tournament play, Rosberg finished the season with overall records of 10-1 in singles and 7-2 in doubles.
In his first season, Rockhill led the Spartans to a perfect 8-0 record and a 5-0 mark in conference play to capture the league’s regular season championship, the second title in program history.
Meanwhile, Amaia Balauger Brau (Fr./Benicarlo, Spain) went 10-2 overall (9-2 Singles, 1-0 Doubles) and reached the singles final of the ITA East Regional Tournament. Teammate Eliza Mulder (Sr./Schoonhoven, Netherlands) posted a record of 12-1 (2-0 Singles, 10-1 Doubles), Paula Palero (Sr./Cullera, Spain) went 12-2 in the fall (3-1 Singles, 9-1 Doubles), Elita Silins (So./Northampton, England) recorded 13 wins to 3 losses (7-1 Singles, 6-2 Doubles) and Samanta Villegas Robles (Sr./Leon, Mexico) was 17-4 overall (10-2 Singles, 7-2 Doubles).
