STAC Women's Tennis Team Ranked 3rd in Latest NCAA East Region Poll

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team has been ranked #3 in the East Region in the latest NCAA Division II poll of the season, released on Wednesday.

The Spartans, currently 9-1 (5-1 ECC) are looking for their first-ever NCAA Tournament bid via either an East Coast Conference Championship, which would also be a program first, or an at-large bid. STAC has appeared in the ECC Tennis Tourney three out of the last four seasons, under Head Coach Matt Capell. However, this will be the program's first trip to the postseason as both the #1 overall seed in conference tournament and newly crowned Regular Season Champions.

For this season, in the East Region, the Tournament Champions of the East Coast Conference (ECC), Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10), and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) each earn an automatic bid to the NCAAs, with one other bid offered to a remaining top-ranked team on an "at-large" basis.

Postseason play opens for St. Thomas Aquinas this Saturday, May 1 when the #1 seeded Spartans will take on the winner of the play-in round match between #2 Daemen College vs. #3 Queens College (Friday, April 30) in the ECC Women's Tennis Tournament Final, at host site Queens College.
