STAC Men's and Women's Tennis Teams Receive Votes in Latest Oracle ITA Division II National Polls

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's and Women's Tennis teams each received votes in their respective Oracle ITA Division II National Polls, released this week. It marks the first time in the history of both programs that the Spartans and Lady Spartans earned the distinction from both rankings committees.

On the men's side of the ledger, the Spartans finished the 2021 season with a 6-4 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the ECC. The team posted key victories over West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Daemen College and Kutztown University. In postseason play, STAC defeated Daemen College, 4-3 in the ECC Semifinal, before falling to conference champion Queens College, 4-1 in the final.

Meanwhile, the women's squad wrapped up their 2021 campaign, going 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the ECC. The team posted important wins over the University of New Haven, West Chester University of Pennsylvania, D'Youville College, Daemen College, Kutztown University, Caldwell University and Queens College. As a result of their success, the Lady Spartans captured their first-ever ECC Regular Season crown and advanced to the postseason as the #1 overall seed in the ECC Tournament, giving the team an automatic bye into the final. In that final, STAC battled a tough and talented Queens College crew and fell in defeat to the Knights, 4-0.
