Spartans Close 2026 Home Schedule with 17-6 Loss to Caldwell

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team closed out their 2026 regular season home schedule on Monday afternoon, falling to Caldwell University in non--conference action, 17-6, at Spartan Field.

STAC falls to 2-10 on the season, while Caldwell moves to 4-8.

Morgan VanDover led the Spartans' offense with a hat trick, while teammates Jade Gorman (1 assist), Clemence Papleux and Jada Garcia also tallied a goal apiece. Goalie Lilah Magenheimer (L, 2-8) got the start between the pipes for the maroon and gold and turned aside 14 of 31 shots faced.

Meanwhile, Caldwell was led by Jessica George, who tallied six goals and an assist, while Meghan Korzevinski (1 assist) and Summer Ciresi recorded hat tricks, Tiana Cipot and Zoe Rocha each scored twice and added a helper apiece, and Abigail Wallace netted a goal. Goalie Sarahkate Schneider (W, 2-4), made 3 saves on 7 shots fired in her direction over the first three quarters to earn the victory. Fellow netminder Serena Barra saw action in the final 15 minutes and stopped 2 of 4 shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Caldwell set the tone early, scoring four of the game's first five goals to take control in the opening quarter. Tiana Cipot opened the scoring, while Jessica George netted twice off feeds from Addison Torok and Zoe Rocha added another. St. Thomas Aquinas got on the board late in the frame when Clémence Papleux finished a pass from Victoria Calabro, but Caldwell held a 4–1 lead after one.

St. Thomas Aquinas carried momentum into the second quarter, as Morgan VanDover struck off an assist from Jade Gorman to make it 4–2. Caldwell responded with a five-goal surge—Cipot added her second, George completed her hat trick off a feed from Meghan Korzevinski, and Summer Ciresi and Korzevinski each found the back of the net, with Korzevinski converting a pass from Rocha—to push the advantage to 8–2. The Spartans closed the half strong, with VanDover scoring her second and Gorman adding a goal off another Calabro assist, cutting the deficit to 8–4 at halftime.

Caldwell broke the game open in the third quarter, erupting for six unanswered goals. Rocha started the run with her second of the game, George followed with three more tallies—one assisted by Cipot and two from Gianna Camporeale—and Ciresi added a pair, including a player-up goal off a George assist and another from Torok. The Cougars' dominant stretch extended the lead to 14–4 heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth, St. Thomas Aquinas showed fight with back-to-back goals from Jada Garcia (free-position) and VanDover, who completed her hat trick off a feed from Calabro to make it 14–6. Caldwell answered with the final three goals of the game, all on free-position opportunities, as Korzevinski scored twice and Abigail Wallace added another to secure the 17–6 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Caldwell outshot STAC 38-16 (31-11 on goal) for the game.
  • Jade Gorman and Morgan VanDover each tallied a team-high four shots for the Spartans, with three going on net.
  • Jada Garcia also caused four Cougars turnovers in the match.
  • Garcia also scooped up seven of the Spartans 34 ground balls.
  • STAC won 9 of 24 draw controls, with Clemence Papleux and Victoria Calabro each winning two.
