Sinking Spring, Pa. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Bowling team wrapped up its 2024-2025 season at the East Coast Conference Championships, which were held at Bowlero Berks Lanes and hosted by Kutztown University.
STAC battled eight member schools in a three-day baker-format tournament, with the Spartans saving their best rolls for the weekend event.
Bowling five baker matches on day one, the team's total pin-fall determined their seeding for a double elimination bout. Placing ninth in the baker round (3,244 total pins), STAC drew #8 seed Saint Anselm College and battled with the Hawks, before falling 4-0 to put themselves on the brink of an early exit.
On day two, the maroon and gold competed against the number four seed, Adelphi University. Facing a win or go home situation, STAC fell into an early 0-2 hole against the Panthers. However, the Spartans put up a valiant effort, digging deep to even the series at two games apiece. Unfortunately, the Adelphi closed out the match with two more victories to eliminate STAC and draw the curtain on their season.
Additionally, in recognition of her outstanding performance at the ECC Championships, Ashley Sena was named to the Women's Bowling All-Tournament team.
Despite the season ending as it did on Saturday, the team had many successes and checked off several individual goals.
The Spartans also spent the weekend celebrating the outstanding collegiate careers of seniors Ashley Sena and Samantha Larkin. Their individual contributions over the last four years have left an indelible mark on the Women's Bowling program, and they will both be missed.
