Women's Bowling Open Season at Westchester Blue & Orange Classic

The St. Thomas Aquinas Women's Bowling team played their first match of the season on Saturday in the Blue & Orange Classic and followed up on Sunday at the Westchester Invitational. Strong performance were recorded by Gianna Avallone, Akira Deloatch and Brianna Randazzo.

St. Thomas Aquinas started off strong in the doubles portion of the tournament.  Led by the team of Akira Deloatch and Gianna Avallone, rolling a combined 1071 which was good for a 3rd place finish, 9 pins behind the 2nd place team from Roberts Wesleyan and 45 pins behind the 1st Place team also from Roberts Wesleyan College.   Deloatch led the way again for the Spartans in singles with a high game of 210 / 553 series, which was just 40 pins shy of a 1st place finish.  The Lady Spartans concluded the day with 5 Baker games: 171, 158,141,158, 157 for 785 total.  Overall the team finished the tournament in 4th place,  right behind ECC rivals Molloy College and Roberts Wesleyan College.   
 
 
Sunday 01/19/20 Westchester Invitational 
 
On Sunday, in Farmingdale Long Island, the Lady Spartans were led in the Doubles portion of the day by Sophomore Brianna Randazzo Rolling her high game of the season with a 212 game.   Once again the Lady Spartans were led by Freshman Akira Deloatch rolling a high game of 225 in singles and finishing the day with 1023 overall just missing making the all tournament team by 15 pins.  Finishing the day with 5 Baker Games, St. Thomas Aquinas College started off game 1 strong with a 186 game.  Cristi Gonzalez set the tone for the game throwing a strike in her first frame and again in the 6th .  The Lady Spartans failed to capitalize on the strong start bowling games of 143,141, 153, 135, after beating Molloy College in the first game with the 186.  Finishing the baker portion with a 758 total (150 Game average) the team recorded another 4th place finish in Long Island.
