Sparkill, N.Y. - Kicking off the 2026 portion of their schedule, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team came up short in a 58-45 home loss to Pace University on Friday afternoon at Aquinas Hall Gymnasium.
STAC falls to 3-11 on the season, while Pace moves to 5-7 and snaps a six-game losing streak.
Bailey Chapman led the maroon and gold offense with 15 points, while Cassidy Mahaney (13 points) and Jona Kabashi (10 points) also scored in double figures. Meanwhile, Anisa Akinola led all Setters players in scoring with 19 points of her own.
STAC shot 32.1 percent (18-56) from the field, while Pace shot 40.7 percent (22-54) from the floor and 41.2 percent (7-17) from beyond the arc.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Six Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Delaney Finnegan, Abby Jacoby and Cassidy Mahaney led the maroon and gold with three assists apiece on the afternoon.
- Bailey Chapman hit 6 of her 13 field goal attempts, with 2-of-4 shots sailing through the nets from long distance. Cassidy Mahaney went 5-of-14 from the floor and 3-of-9 from three.
- STAC and Pace tallied 36 rebounds apiece, with Jona Kabashi grabbing a game-high nine boards for the Spartans.
- St. Thomas Aquinas picked up eight steals, with the Setters turning the ball over on 15 separate occasions.
- The Spartans earned advantages in three team statistical categories over Pace: Points off Turnovers (17-13), Second Chance Points (10-6) and Fastbreak Points (6-2).

- Bailey Chapman led all scorers with nine first half points for the Spartans, while shooting 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from the field.
- St. Thomas Aquinas' best shooting quarter came in the opening stanza, with the Spartans shooting 42.9 percent (6-14) from the floor.
PACE NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

- Grace Ziogas led Pace with four assists on the day.
- Akinola went 6-for-11 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the three-point line, with Collins hitting 5-of-14 field goal attempts and 3-of-4 foul shots.
- Ciara Collins also grabbed a team-high eight boards for the Setters.
- Pace picked up nine steals, with the Spartans turning the ball over on 18 separate occasions.
- The Setters earned advantages in two team statistical categories over St. Thomas Aquinas: Points in the Paint (26-24) and Bench Points (14-4).
- Pace had its largest lead of the game (16 points) with just under 30 seconds to play in the fourth quarter, 58-42, on pair of Anisa Akinola free throws.
- Ciara Collins led all Setters' scorers at the half with eight points, while shooting 37.5 percent (3-of-8) from the floor and 100.0 percent (2-of-2) from the foul line.
- Pace's best shooting quarter came in the final frame, with the Setters shooting 44.4 percent (4-9) from the field and 80.0 percent (4-5) from long distance.
