Sparkill, N.Y. - Three Spartans scored in double figures, with two also picking up double-doubles, as the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team defeated the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning on Saturday afternoon, 57-47, at Aquinas Hall Gymnasium.
STAC moves to 1-3 on the season, while Goldey-Beacom falls to 0-4.
Bailey Chapman posted a team-high 13 points, along with 10 rebounds, while Iyana Morel recorded 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, and Delaney Finnegan tallied a 10-point game. Meanwhile, Lydia Betz led all scorers with 21 points for the visiting Lightning.
St. Thomas Aquinas shot 35.2 percent from the field (19-54), while Goldey-Beacom shot 29.3 percent (17-58) from the floor.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Seven Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the non-conference contest.
- Delaney Finnegan led the maroon and gold with three assists on the day.
- Bailey Chapman hit 4 of her 8 field goal attempts, with three hitting the net from long range. She also made 2-of-4 free throws. Meanwhile, Iyana Morel went 4-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.
- STAC out-rebounded Goldey-Beacom by a narrow 41-37 margin, with Morel grabbing a game-high 14 boards and Chapman pulling down 10 rebounds for the Spartans.
- St. Thomas Aquinas picked up eight steals, with the Lightning turning the ball over on 16 separate occasions.
- The Spartans earned advantages in three team statistical categories over Goldey-Beacom: Points Off Turnovers (14-12), Second Chance Points (16-8) and Bench Points (11-8).
- The game featured no ties and no lead changes.
- STAC's largest lead of the game came with just over a minute to play in the third stanza, when Spartans led by 20 points, 44-24, on an Abby Jacoby jump shot.
- St. Thomas Aquinas held a 29-19 advantage going into the halftime locker room.
- Iyana Morel led all scorers with nine first half points for the Spartans, while shooting both 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from the floor and 75.0 percent (3-of-4) from the free-throw line.
- STAC's best shooting quarter came in the third stanza, with the maroon and gold hitting 6 of its 14 total shots for a 42.9 field goal percentage and both of its free throws for a 100.0 percent rating.
GOLDEY-BEACOM NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

- Goldey-Beacom's best shooting quarter came in the second frame, with the Lightning hitting 5 of its 10 total shots for a 50.0 field goal percentage, with three going in from long range for a 60.0 percent clip, along with both of its free throws for a 100.0 percent rating.
