Kutztown, Pa. - In what felt like a postseason matchup between conference rivals, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team dropped a feisty 57-45 decision to Kutztown University in non-conference action at Keystone Arena.
STAC falls to 3-12 on the year, while Kutztown moves to 7-5 following the first-ever matchup between ECC and PSAC schools.
Bailey Chapman led both the maroon and gold offense with 13 points and the Spartans' response to some rough play by the Golden Bears in the second half. Meanwhile, Danae Ellzy led all Kutztown players in scoring with 19 points of her own.
STAC shot 28.6 percent (14-46) from the field and 80.0 percent (12-15) from the foul line, while Kutztown shot 34.0 percent (18-53) from the floor and 70.0 percent (14-20) from the charity stripe.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Seven Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Abby Jacoby, Bailey Chapman and Toni Schuetze led the maroon and gold with two assists apiece on the evening.
- Chapman hit 3 of her 11 field goal attempts, with 2-of-5 shots sailing through the nets from long distance. She also hit 5-of-6 free throws.
- STAC out-rebounded Kutztown by a slim 36-25 margin, with Bailey Chapman and Jona Kabashi each grabbing a game-high seven boards for the Spartans.
- St. Thomas Aquinas picked up six steals, with the Golden Bears turning the ball over on 18 separate occasions.
- The Spartans earned one advantage in the team statistical categories over Kutztown: Fastbreak Points (4-0).

- Kutztown picked up 13 steals, with the Spartans turning the ball over on 25 separate occasions.
- The Golden Bears earned advantages in four team statistical categories over St. Thomas Aquinas: Points off Turnovers (27-20), Second Chance Points (6-2), Points in the Paint (18-12) and Bench Points (24-6).
- Kutztown had its largest lead of the game (12 points) with just under 10 seconds to play in the fourth quarter, 57-45, on a Danae Ellzy free throw.
- Danae Ellzy led all scorers at the half with 11 points for the Golden Bears, while shooting 60.0 percent (3-of-5) from the floor, 50.0 percent (1-for-2) from beyond the arc and 100.0 percent (4-of-4) from the foul line.
