Senior Alexa Huertas and freshman Sarah Ericson have earned Second Team honors for Division II Women's Basketball from the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.
The pair played an integral role in leading the Spartans to a 14-15 overall record, along with a 12-6 East Coast Conference mark under first year Head Coach Bill Cleary. STAC reached the ECC playoffs for the eighth consecutive season and defeated quarterfinal opponents, the University of the District of Columbia, 63-49, before falling in the semis to Molloy.
Alexa Huertas previously received second team honors from the ECC in its post-season awards, to go along with her All-Met accolades. Averaging 12.7 points per game, the senior from Haverstraw, N.Y. led STAC in scoring and her 1.3 steals per game ranked first on the team. Huertas will return for a fifth year in 2022-23.
In her first season in Sparkill, Sarah Ericson earned both Rookie of the Year honors and second team status from the ECC to go along with her addition to the All-Met squad. The freshman from Norwich, Conn. placed second on the team with 10.4 points per game while finishing first with 6.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest.
