Staten Island, N.Y. - St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field athletes got one final opportunity to better their marks and make an impression on the Division II Indoor Track & Field Committee on Friday, competing in the FastTrack Last Chance Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Stellar Spartan performances on the day, include Darwin Almonte's second place finish in the 200 meter dash, with a time of 21.49, which also sets an NCAA Division II Provisional Mark. Victoria Maher placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 14.53m (47'8") and Ryan Folmer took fourth in the triple jump event with a leap of 12.81m (42'0.5"). A pair of fourth place finishes by Justus Behene (8.43) and Seamus Gallagher in the shot put (13.81m/45'3.75") round out the top-five placements by the maroon and gold.
The Spartans now await announcements about potential participants in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will come on Tuesday, March 3. The Championships take place March 13-14 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Preparations for the upcoming Outdoor Track & Field season will also get underway with the spring-half of the season beginning on Friday, March 27th at the two-day Ramapo College Invitational in Mahwah, New Jersey.
