STAC Battles Track & Field's Best At The Dr. Sander Scorcher

New York, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track and Field team continued its 2025-26 campaign on Friday and Saturday at the Dr. Sander Scorcher, which was held within the friendly confines of the historic 168th Street Armory in New York City.

The Spartans faced off against athletes from several Division I, II and III institutions, including: Adelphi, Army West Point, Colgate, Columbia, FDU, Harvard, Iona, Lehigh, LIU, Manhattan, Molloy, Monmouth, New Haven, NJIT, NYU, Staten Island, Temple, Wagner and Yale.

Headlining the outstanding performances for the Spartans in the two-day event were Kim Wingren's third place finish in the triple jump, with a leap of 13.77m (45'2.25"), Darwin Almonte's seventh place finish in the 200 meter dash, with a time of 22.11 and Victoria Maher's weight throw toss, which she hurled 15.69m (51'5.75") to earn a 13th place finish.

STAC returns to action on Friday and Saturday (January 30 & 31) for the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic, which will be contested at the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Events are scheduled to get underway beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Men's Triple Jump Open: Kim Wingren - 13.77m/45'2.25" (3rd Place), Egill Atlason Waagfjoro - 12.63m/41'5.25" (7th Place)
