STAC Track & Field Athletes Compete in Army West Point Twilight, as NCAA Championship Selections Loom

West Point, N.Y. - St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field athletes competed for the final time in regular season action at the Army West Point Twilight meet on Thursday, as the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field committee begins to review and make decisions on teams and athletes that will represent Division II at its upcoming national championships in Emporia, Kansas at the end of May.

The men’s sprint squad delivered a standout performance highlighted by multiple podium finishes and a relay victory. In the 100-Meter dash, Darwin Almonte sprinted to a first-place finish in 10.59, while Leelan Maxwell secured third place with a time of 10.68. Justus Behne also contributed a strong effort, placing seventh in 11.06.

Almonte continued his impressive day in the 200-Meter dash, earning a runner-up finish in 21.99. Behne added another scoring performance for the men with a sixth-place finish in 22.34.

The quartet of Maurice Douglas, Justus Behne, Leelan Maxwell, and Darwin Almonte capped off the meet in dominant fashion by winning the 4x100-Meter Relay with a time of 41.41, while also setting a new school record.

On the women’s side, Kristen Kennedy represented the team in the Javelin, recording a throw of 30.87 meters (101’3”) to finish seventh overall.
