On Tuesday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its 2021-22 Indoor Track & Field All-Region awards. Dante Brown, Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez and DeAndre Smith of St. Thomas Aquinas College were selected for the prestigious honor in recognition of their outstanding individual winter seasons.
Brown, the graduate student from Nyack, N.Y., posted Third (ECC Championships/6.66m), Fourth (Monmouth Invite/6.94m), Seventh (Albany Classic/6.63m), First (Ramapo Opener/7.10m) and First (Wagner Shootout/6.94m) Place finishes in the Long Jump during five meets this season.
Mena-Jimenez, the freshman from West Haverstraw, N.Y., placed First (ECC Championships/17.16m), First (Monmouth Invite/16.86m), Second (Albany Classic/17.77m), First (Ramapo Opener/15.93m), Third (Spartan Invitational/15.57m) and Fourteenth (Wagner Shootout/10.80m) in the Weight Throw in six meets this season.
Smith, a senior from Brentwood, N.Y., led the way for the Spartans in the High Jump event, as he posted First (ECC Championships/1.93m), First (Monmouth Invite/2.05m), Third (Albany Classic/2.00m), First (Ramapo Opener/2.00m) and Third (Wagner Shootout/1.95m) Place finishes in the High Jump during five meets this season.
