St. Thomas Aquinas College's Elizah Gordon, Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez and Skylar Moreno were named the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans participation in the Lafayette University Open last weekend.
Gordon (Men's Track Athlete of the Week) recorded a first place finish for the Spartans in the 100 Meter Dash at the Lafayette University Open. The junior from White Plains, N.Y. crossed the finish line in a time of 10.93.
Mena-Jimenez (Men's Field Athlete of the Week) took first place finishes in the Discus (49.84m) and Hammer Throw (50.48m) at the Lafayette University Open. In the discus, Mena-Jimenez broke STAC's school record previously held by former Spartan Rickssen Opont. The freshman from West Haverstraw, N.Y. also took fourth in the Shot Put (14.07m)
Moreno (Women's Track Athlete of the Week) recorded a second place finish for the Spartans in the 400 Meter Hurdles at the Lafayette University Open. The senior from Congers, N.Y. crossed the finish line in a time of 1:09.70.
STAC next heads to New Jersey for the Ramapo College Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 1 & 2 at the college's Athletic Center in Mahwah.
