Back-To-Back STAC! Spartans Repeat As ECC Outdoor Track & Field Champs

The East Coast Conference Championship concluded yesterday in Western New York with the Spartans taking home there second consecutive outdoor title, while the Lady Spartans finished 4th.

Matt Tina started out the day by running in his first ever 10k and won the event in a time of 34:17.31, while his teammate Kyle Kondraki took 4th with a time of 34:46.96.  Frankie Schiavone then won the 400 hurdles in a time of 56.33 with his teammate Dylan Bestler taking 3rd place in the event.  Dante Brown had a busy day as well, he was the anchor for the 4x100 relay team that won and took first in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.89 meters.  Rickssen Opont continued his torrid season, as he won the Shot Put and Discus, while taking 3rd in the Hammer Throw.  St. Jacob Diodonet took 2nd place in the 200 and 400 where in the 400 he hit the 17th fastest time in Division II with a time of 47.40.  Ian Mirtile took 2nd place in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:10.86 and finished 4th in the 1500.  Robbie Guidicipietro took 3rd place in the 1500 and 6th place in the 5000.  Kesigh Deloatch took 1st place honors in the High Jump and Triple jump, then he took 3rd place in the Long Jump.  Elias Guardado took 2nd place in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump.  The 4x100 Relay team of Dante Brown, Jaren Scott, Malyk Michel, and St. Jacob Diodonet took 1st place in a time of 42.06.  The 4x800 Relay team of Dylan Bestler, Frankie Schiavone, James Dowd and Aiden Russell took 2nd place in the event.  All of the Spartans worked hard in their events to secure the program's second straight outdoor title, third in team history.
 
On the women's side Christina Maretzo, who is also a member of the soccer team, took 4th place in the 1500, 5th place in the 800 and was on the ladies 4x800 Relay team that took 2nd place in that event.  Rachel Spagnola took second place in the 400 Hurdles as part of her first outdoor conference action.  Molly Conner took 4th place finishes in the 100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles.  Penny Greibesland took 2nd place in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 15.47.  Tauntyonah Guinter, another dual sport athlete (Soccer), took 4th place in the Triple Jump and earned All-Conference honors.  Katie Mollahan took 2nd place in the Shot Put to complete a great career at St. Thomas Aquinas, where she has been Top-2 in the event for the past 3 season that she has competed for the Spartans.  The 4x800 Relay team of Abbey Kimbrell, Shannon Thompson, Rebecca Macleod and Christina Maretzo took 2nd place to earn All-Conference honors as well.  Additionally, Rebecca Macleod also took 3rd place in the Steeplechase.
