Lady Spartans Break DMR Record at Metro Team Challenge; Sloezen breaks 400 meter record

The Spartan Track & Field Team competed at the Metro Team Challenge on Friday where they competed against teams such as Villanova, Marist, Monmouth, Rutgers and other Division I, II, and III teams from the East Coast.  The women's DMR team set a new Spartan record.  Junior Gabriela Sloezen also broke the STAC 400m record.

The Women's Distance Medley Relays team (who run a 1200,400,800,1600) of Allison Borriello. Rebecca Fortoul, Gabriela Sloezen, and Kristen Borriello broke the school record in a time of 12:39.24 taking 7th overall in the meet.  Sloezen broke her own 400 record today when she ran 59.09 finishing 17th overall out of 57 people competing.  Gina Funaro also finished in 23rd in the 1000 with a time of 3:16.89 which is a new personal best for her career in that event.  The women finished 20th overall with having over 30 teams competing in the overall event.

On the Men's side Winslow Dorsainvil took 2nd overall in the 60 meters today in times of 6.86 and 6.88.  Dorsainvil also ran a new indoor personal best in the 200 in a time of 22.66 and taking 8th overall.  Ricardo Reid hit a new indoor personal best in the 400 with a time of 51.48.  Dylan Bestler also hit a new personal best in the 800 in a time of 2:03.68. The Men's Team finished 15th overall with over 30 teams competing at the event.
The Spartans and Lady Spartans next compete at the Armory Track Invitational where there will be teams from all over the country including Clemson, Mississippi State, Wisconsin, St. Johns and many others.  The meet is Friday and Saturday next week.
