Spartans Set Records at Rider Invitational

The St. Thomas Aquinas has continued to add to a great season setting four new records at the Rider Invite.  The men's 4x800 team of Garvenchy Nicolas, Matt Buell, Joe Chegwidden, and Mike Kraus broke the school record in a time of 7:57.76 and won the event.  On the women's side the 4x400 team of Allison Borriello, Gabby Sloezen, Catherine Sandkuhl, and Gina Funaro broke the school record in the event with a time of 4:06.59.  Keeley Bateman and Meaghan Ventarola also set records in their respective events.  

The 4x100 team of George Erazo, Travis Abelard, Anthony Henry and Winslow Dorsainvil took 7th overall with a time of 42.73.  In the 3000 Steeplechase Mike Galonski took 1st overall in a time of 9:52.14.  Dorsainvil finished in 1st place in the 100 with a time of 10.81 and in 9th place in the 200 with a time of 22.65.  Erazo finished in 2nd place in the 400 with a time of 48.77 and 18th overall in the 200 with a time of 23.09.  In the 800, Nicolas ran 1:56.49 to take 5th overall.  Out of 17 scored schools the Spartan's finished in 7th place and was the top Division II team at the meet.

Lady Spartan Meaghan Ventarola kept her improvement up in the 3000 Steeplechase where she ran a new school in the event by running 11:33.06 and taking 7th place.  Allison Borriello took 8th overall in the 800 with a time of 2:19.32 with Gabby Sloezen finishing right behind her in 9th with a time of 2:19.54.  In the 1500 Bateman hit a new school record in the 1500 with a time of 4:56.31 and finishing in 16th overall and Rebecca Fortoul hit a new PB in the 1500 with a time of 5:05.94.
The Spartans next compete at the ECC Championships on Saturday.  The championships will be hosted by Georgian Court.
