The Spartan Men's Track & Field team took 5th overall at the Rider Invitational but only Rider, Sacred Heart, Rutgers and Monmouth finished ahead of them. George Erazo won the 400 in a time of 48.52. Keeley Bateman and Allison Borriello took 7th and 8th in the 800m.
Erazo also lead off the 4x400 team of Ed Oswald, Matt Buell and Garvenchy Nicolas to take 4th overall in the meet. Nicolas also ran a new personal best in the 800m in a time of 1:55.73 to take 2nd overall in the meet. Mike Galonski ran a 9:50.57 in the steeplechase to take 1st place with his teammate Joe Chegwidden taking 2nd right behind him with a time of 10:07.80. Oswald also took 7th in the high jump with a 1.79 meter height. Frankie Colon hit a new personal best in the 200m with a time of 23.14 taking 5th overall. The men finished 5th out of 14 teams.
On the women's side, juniors Bateman and Borriello highlighted the afternoon. The teammates were separated by less than a tenth of a second running 2:23.67 and 2:23.72 respectively.
The Spartans next compete at the CTC Championships on Friday and Saturday at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ.
