Sandkuhl Sets School Record, Propels Lady Spartans at Harvard Open

The St. Thomas Aquinas Women's Track & Field Team was led by freshman Catherine Sandkuhl at this weekend's Harvard Open in Boston, MA.  Sandkuhl set a new school record in the 400m with a time of 101.22.

Sandkuhl took 8th overall out of 54 competitors with the early season personal best.  Sophomore Keeley Bateman ran her first 800m run of the season and ran 2:23.71 which took 9th overall out of 34 competitors.  Other notable performances were recorded by the strong Lady Spartan freshmen class.  Kaitlyn Mancini improved on her own school record in the 60m dash with a time of 8.37 and ran the 200 in 27.76 which placed her 35th out of 103. Ashley Stokkeland ran her first career 400m dash in a time of 1:03.27 which took 26th overall in the competition.   In the 3000m run Katelyn Garvey ran a very respectable time of 11:42.29.

The Lady Spartans next competition will be at the Armory on January 6th, 2011.
