The Spartan Runners competed at the Gotham Cup on Friday at the New Balance Track & Field Center. Sophomore Keeley Bateman broke her own record in the 1000m with a time of 303.98. Sophomore George Erazo bettered his national qualifying time in the 400m running a time of 48.80.
On the women's side, Bateman was joined by freshman Catherine Sandkuhl in breaking a STAC school record. While Bateman's time earned her a 14th place finish overall, Sandkuhl finished 23rd in the 400m with a time of 101:20. She broke her own record previously set in December at the Harvard Open.
For tyhe men, Erazo finished as the top Division II runner at the meet in the 400 and 6th overall in the competition. Freshman Alex Andre also ran a new school record in the 1000m with a time of 2:32.78 which beat the previous record of 2:35.44 held by Gary "Einar" Brissing.
The Spartan's next meet is the Great Dane Classic at the New Balance Track and Field Center in NYC on Friday, January 20th.
