Spartans Excel at CTC Relay Carnival

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field program competed at Yale on Sunday.  The men's team was led by performances by junior Rich Ricca who took second in the 60 in  a time of 7.23.  The Lady Spartans day was highlighted by a 2nd place DMR finish and a 3rd place Sprint Medley finish.

Ricca also helped the Spartans to secure a 1st place finish in the 4x200m relay in 1:31.15 with teammates Mike Abelard, George Erazo and Frankie Colon.  Abelard, Erazo, Colon and freshman Alex Andre also took 1st in the Sprint Medley Relay in a time of 3:38.26.  Mike Galonski and Joe Chegwidden took 4th place in the 5000 Meter Realy in times of 16:13.97 and  16:50.79 respectrively.  Galsonki, Chegwidden, Andre, and Mike Kraus also finished in 4th in the 4x1600m relay in a time of 19:03.48.  The men finished in 7th place overall out of 14 teams that scored in the meet.

The Lady Spartans also had a strong outing with Keeley Bateman, Chelsea Klinger, Catherine Sandkuhl and Ashley Stokkeland taking 2nd place in the DMR relay in a time of 13:22.73.  The team of Bateman, Stokkeland, Sandkuhl and Kaitlyn Mancin took 3rd place in the Sprint Medley Relay in a time of 4:27.65.  The Spartan's women finished in 9th overall place out of 14 teams that scored. 

The men's squad will be back in action on Thursday, December 7th at the St. John's Bill Ward Invitational which will be held at St. Anthony's in Huntington, NY.

The women will return to action on Saturday at the Harvard Invitational in Cambridge, MA.
