The Spartans competed this weekend at the Collegiate Track Conference Championships with the Men finishing 4th out of over 20 teams, missing 3rd place by 1 point. The women finished in 13th. Eight runners received All-Conference Awards for their performances.
On the men's side George Erazo took 1st Team All-Conference in the 400m with a time of 48.92 and won the 200m in 22.88. Freshman Alex Andre also garnered 1st Team All-Conference honors in the 800m with a time of 1:59.15. Garvenchy Nicolas earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors in 1000m with a time of 2:39.59. Mike Galosnki was named to the 3rd Team All-Conference in the 5000m with a time of 15:33.09.
In the men's relays the 4x400 team of Erazo, Rich Ricca, Frankie Colon and Andre took 2nd Team All-Conference honors with a time of 3:29.82. The 4x200 team of Ricca, Mike Abelard, Rosnick Malivert and Erazo earned 3rd Team All-Conference honors. Other notable performances include Dan Davren who took 5th place overall in his first time ever doing the triple jump.
On the women's side Sophomore Keeley Bateman got 3rd Team All-Conference honors in the 1000m with a time of 3:08.14 and took 4th in the 800 in a time of 2:26.12. Freshman Catherine Sandkuhl took 5th place honors in the 400m dash in a time of 1:01.69. The 4x200 relay of Kaitlyn Mancini, Sandkuhl, Gina Funaro and Ashley Stokkeland took 6th place in a time of 1:55.39.
The Spartan Track & Field team will return to action on Friday at the Molloy Invitational at St. Anthony's High School in Huntington, NY.
