Abelard Shows Up Strong at The Metropolitan Coaches Invitation

St. Thomas Aquinas freshman Mike Abelard took 4th place in both 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash in the Metropolitan Coaches Invitation held at the Armory in NY.  Abelard ran a 6.95 in the 60 meter dash which placed him fourth in a very competitive field and was .07 away from provisionally qualifying for nationals.  In the 200 meter dash the rookie ran a 21.92 setting a new school record and was one of only two collegiate athletes in this meet to break the 22 second barrier.

Senior Chris Muniz took 8th place in the 400 with a time of 49.78. Einar Brissing and Vinny Modaferri both competed well in the mile in which Brissing ran a 4:40.91 and Modaferri ran a 4:47.24.

On the women's side Sarah Callagy ran a 5:44.33 which placed her 23rd overall in the mile.  Chelsea Klinger took29th overall in the 800 with a time of 2:37.70 while teammate Julia Karl, took 30th in a time of 2:37.92.
