St. Thomas Aquinas College Sprint Football Defensive End Tyreke Smith has been named the Collegiate Sprint Football League's Defensive Player of the Week, following the Spartans 37-0 shutout victory over Alderson Broaddus University on Saturday at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

Smith (Sr./Atlanta, Ga.) led the Spartan defense core in keeping the visiting Battlers off of the scoreboard with 16 tackles (12 solo, 4 assisted), seven of which were for a loss totaling 46 yards. He also had a forced fumble and recorded 3.5 sacks on the AB quarterback, as STAC picked up their first win of the 2021 campaign.

STAC (1-2, 0-1 CSFL North) looks to make it back-to-back wins on a short week, as the Spartans host Mansfield University on Friday, October 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm at Torne Valley.
