St. Thomas Aquinas College Holds First-Ever Sprint Football Spring Practice

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Sprint Football team held its first-ever Spring Practice over three days in mid-April at both Spartan Field and Tallman Mountain State Park. Current Spartan students, who are also commits to the Inaugural 2018 Team, made up the squad for the practices, which focused on player evaluation, skill instruction, physical fitness and team bonding at the 3-day event, held by Head Coach Matt Barry and his staff.

"I couldn't be more excited about the first recruiting class for the St. Thomas Aquinas College Sprint Football program" said Barry. "As allowed by league rules, we had our first week of practice, which was a great success. The players' enthusiasm is so great to see and can be felt on the newly built practice field and in the weight room."

"Players have also began their off-season weight training program to get ready for the inaugural season, which includes a mix of body-weight exercises, cardio and weight training. Some have even reported seeing positive results. The dedication this team has already is a great sign for the season ahead."

"With recruits from all over New York and even from Florida, we've really used social media as a vehicle to connect all of our newly committed players and introduce our community to STAC's first ever football team- it's something we're all really excited about."
