STAC and Assumption Split Sunday Softball Twin Bill

Sparkill, N.Y. - Returning from their annual Sunshine State spring break tour, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Softball team opened the home portion of their 2026 schedule on Sunday with a non-conference doubleheader against Assumption University at Spartan Field.

In a tale of two completely opposite games, STAC scored an 8-0 shutout victory over the visiting Greyhounds in game one, before dropping a 7-0 decision in the night cap.

STAC moves to 5-7 on the season, while Assumption goes to 2-9.

Game One: 8-0 STAC (Final 6-Innings)

St. Thomas Aquinas broke open a scoreless game with a four-run fourth inning and rode a dominant pitching performance from Lauren Falk to an 8–0 victory in six innings over Assumption.

Pitchers Control Early

Both teams were held in check through the first three innings as Falk and Assumption starter Kaelin Waldron traded scoreless frames. Assumption managed just two hits in the game, while Falk kept the Greyhounds off the scoreboard throughout the afternoon.

Spartans Break Through

St. Thomas Aquinas broke the deadlock in the fourth inning. Sofia Marella started the rally by ripping a two-run double to right field, scoring Olivia Leon and Adriana Coira to give the Spartans a 2–0 lead.

Moments later, Trinadey Santiago delivered the big blow with a two-run home run to left-center field, bringing home Marella and extending the advantage to 4–0.

Adding Insurance

The Spartans added another run in the fifth inning. Santiago drew a bases-loaded walk, forcing in Alyssa Haberstroh and pushing the lead to 5–0.

St. Thomas Aquinas continued the pressure in the sixth inning. Haberstroh singled to left field to drive in Maristella Coira and Jordyn Gautier, stretching the lead to 7–0. Later in the inning, Leon lined an RBI single through the left side to score Haberstroh and cap the scoring at 8–0.
